Letter from the
Executive Director

In these columns we hope to keep you up to date on the various strategies, initiatives and offerings of the Foundation. We hope also to be able to illustrate through our program reports the approach we take to philanthropy which is often described as strategic philanthropy – a time-tested methodology which, though rooted in generosity and charity, seeks to transform giving so that it achieves maximum impact. In that vein, our work seeks to support new and innovative approaches to social development, testing new models and even sometimes building new fields (best illustrated in Early Childhood Development work). We on staff consider it our great privilege to have the opportunity to assist our trustees in implementing their bold and ambitious agenda, and likewise our privilege to work in close partnership with the community members who are at the heart of our various initiatives.
